MARRIAGE
LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
Residence
One of the parties must
have resided in St. Lucia for at least two days immediately
preceding the application for the license.
The following original
documents (English translation) are required upon arrival.
All documents handed over for preparation of application for
the marriage license will be returned when the license is
granted.
- Original birth
certificates of both parties
- Decree absolute if
either party is divorced
- Death certificate of
spouse if widow/widower
- Passports and immigration
forms from the airport
- Deed poll if name has
been changed
- If under 18 years of
age, parents consent is needed by way of an affidavit from
a Notary Public
Information also required -
Occupation, Home address, Residence in St. Lucia, Date,
time & place of proposed marriage, Name & address of person
who will solemnise the marriage, and Organisation/church to
which the parties belong.
Costs of the registrar,
legal fees, license, and marriage certificate (handwritten
by the marriage officer) - add US$ 6.00 for a certified
copy.
Please note: Legal
fees and the services of a Registrar who will perform the
ceremony is also included, however, if the couple request
the services of a pastor a surcharge will apply.
The lawyer is available for
the hotel to sign the forms at no extra cost, however,
should it be necessary that you come to his/her office, we
can arrange a taxi for the round trip transfer at a cost of
approximately US$25.00.
Please note - All legal
offices on the island operate from Monday to Friday and are
closed on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. The
wedding officer has the same working schedule with the
exception of Saturday, therefore weddings are not conducted
on Sundays and public holidays. |
